Waterfowl Muse~un to the city; and
WHEREAS, the Gridley Business Improvement District (BID) is also enthusiastically in support
of this project; and
WHEREAS, local businesses were approached by Roger Calloway, Landscape Architect for the
California Department of Parks and Recreation, about the concept of the museum; and
WHEREAS, the museum would be centered around waterfowl and waterfowl hunting; and
WHEREAS, there is an abundance of cultural history involved; and
WHEREAS, Gridley would be a great place to exhibit a lot of the artifacts; and
WHEREAS, Gridley is a perfect location for such a museum because of its close proximity to
several wildlife refuges, including Gray Lodge; and
WHEREAS, the project would likely have several partners, including the City of Gridley and the
Business Improvement District; and
WHEREAS, an application has been made with the State Parks and Recreation Department to
site a museum in Gridley; and
WHEREAS, Butte County encourages the promotion of to~~rism.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
strongly supports the siting of a Pacific Flyway Waterfowl Museum in Gridley,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 27`x' day of March
2001 by the following vote:
AYES: SuPervisars Beeler, Dolan, Roux, Yamaguchi and Chair Josiassen
NOES: None
ABSENT; None
NOT VOTING: None
