HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-024~:. ~~~~ ~ f`~ .:P<, RESOLUTION AMENDING THE COMPOSITION OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES (ADA) ADVISORY COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has established the ADA Advisory Committee pursuant to Resolution No. 92-91, amended pursuant. to Resolution No. 98-13; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors desires to change the composition of the ADA Advisory Committee by deleting the membership of the Chief Administrative Officer, the membership of the County Counsel and the membership of the Safety Officer and add the membership of the General Services Director or his/her designee, the membership of the Health Officer and the membership of the Director of Welfare or his/her designee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California as follows: 1. Resolutian 98-13 is superseded in its entirety by this resolution. 2. The Board of Supervisors fully supports efforts to end discrimination in employment, services, and its programs against qualified disabled individuals. 3. The Director-Personnel is hereby designated as the County's ADA Compliance Officer. 4. The duties of the Compliance Officer shall include: a} Assure County compliance with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act with regard to County employment, services and programs. b) Review and recommend amendments to the Board of Supervisors of the County's Merit System and Personnel Rules to assure compliance with the ADA. c) Prepare an annual report to the Board of Supervisors of efforts to comply with the ADA. 5. There shall be an ADA Advisor}~ Committee. The committee shall be comprised of the following persons: a) Director-Personnel. or hislher dcsigncc; b) Director-General Services or his/her designee; c) Director-Welfare or hislher designee; d) health Officer; e) Chair-Management Council 6. The duties of the Advisory Committee shall include, but not be limited to: a) Providing technical guidance to the ADA Compliance Officer; b) Directing periodic reviews of the County's buildings and structures for ADA compliance; c} Making recommendations for physical alterations of the workplace for disabled employees; d) Other advisory functions, as it deems necessary to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
