RESOt,t)TION CONDEMNING THE TERRORIST ACTS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001,
AND Sl1PPORTIN(T THE PRESIDENT OF THF, t1NITF,D STATES
AND THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS. Butte County is shocked and saddened by the cowardly acts of terrorism
committed on American soil on September l l , 240 ] ;and
WHEREAS, in response to these acts. Butte County has worked closely with federal,
state, and local agencies; and
WHEREAS, Butte County will send trained personnel to assist rescue and recovery
effol-ts if needed; and
WHERF,AS. Butte County is assisting our employees and citizens in their time of need;
and
WHEREAS, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for the bravery and self-
sacritice displayed b_y rescue personnel: and
WHEREAS, it is vital that the American spirit remain strong and that freedom continues
to be the foundation of our country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BF. IT RESOLVED that Butte County condemns these terrorist
acts.
We fu11y support the Commander and Chief; our President of the United States of
America, in any and all military action necessary to eliminate the terrorist threat, both foreign
and domestic, to our citizen's and country.
We fu11y support the ongoing efforts and leadership of the President of the United States
as we move forward in this time of tragedy and in pursuit of bringing those behind the attacks to
justice.
We shall continue working closely with the Governor of California on security measures
and support his commitment to ensure our Golden State remains a state of freedom, peace, and
prosperity.
We will provide assistance to both the federal and state governments, as needed, and urge
our citizens to assist in the rescue and recovery ef~f-orts through blood donatians and monetary
contributions.
VVe are committed to not allowing terrorist acts to dampen the spirit and resolve of the
United States and its citizens.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 25'~ day of
September 2001 by the following vote:
