RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF
DISTRICT ATTORNEY CHIEF INVESTIGATOR
ED SZENDREY
WHERF,.AS, Chief Ed Szendrey has served the citizens of Butte County faithfully and
skillfully for twenty years in the capacity of an investigator and Chief Investigator for the Butte
County District attorney; and
WHEREAS, in January of 1995 Chief Ed Szendrey was promoted to District Attorney
Chief Investigator and immediately began working on his vision of making the Butte County
District Attorney's Bureau of Investigation a leader in every area of professional Iaw
enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Chief Szendrey worked diligently to coordinate efforts to develop the
nation"s first Drug Endangered Children's program, making the protection of children from the
lethal effects of exposure to illicit chemicals and drugs a priority in drug enforcement efforts;
and
WHEREAS, Chief Szendrey has made the Butte County District Attorney's Major
Crime. Special Victims, Bad Check, Welfare Fraud, and Criminal Non Support of Children Unit,
leaders throughout the state in their respective areas of responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Chief Szendrey has assisted and supported the people of the Ilmong
community, working many hours to foster cooperation and understanding mutually between law
enforcement and the Hmong people within Butte County; and
WHEREAS, Chief Szendrey has been instrumental in the development of the
Countywide Interagency Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Program, a(lo~~ing for a
standardized, professional, and timely investigation of incidents ~~hich involved the use of
deadly force by Peace Officers; anti
WHEREAS, Chief Szendrey has always been present to ensure the citizens of~ Butte
Coctnty received the best possible support and protection throu~~h providin~~ for a profcssion~ll
and outstanding District Attorney"s Bureau of hlvestigation; and
WHEREAS, Chief Szendrey has been a ~~rcat lcad~:r, mentor, and friend to the
Investigators of the Butte County District Attorney's Oftice.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE [T RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
hereby commends and thanks Chief Ed Szendrey for all his professional efforts anti
accomplishments while serving as the District Attorney Chief Investigator of Butte County, and
wishes the best to Ed and his family in all their professional and personal pursuits,
PASSED AND ADOPTED b}' the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 9`~' day of
October 2001 by the following vote:
