Subject: Medical Cannabis
My Name is Kay, I am a Registered Nurse, and I am the president of Nightingale Collective. I am a member of
the American Cannabis Nurses Association working towards my certification as a cannabis nurse.
Nightingale Collective is a membership cannabis delivery collective that delivers medical cannabis to qualified
patients in Butte County.
Members of Nightingale Collective are on average, ages 30-65, Butte County residents, employed or retired,
homeowners. The average house value of our members is $200,000.
1 have been a Registered Nurse for 24 years. I have worked in the local Emergency rooms,,and have witnessed
the daily revolving door of addicted patients seeking and getting dilaudid, morphine, Norco, oxycontin at tax
payers expense. The new DEA regulations, and the new pain management policies of numerous local clinics
and urgent cares have left many honest patients dealing with chronic pain without prescription resources. The
shortage of primary care doctors in the area has left many patients suffering from anxiety, post traumatic stress,
chronic pain without care. Many clinics will not accept the managed care plans of the affordable care act.
I believe Cannabis is a viable "exit drug."' and a good alternative to narcotics. I have witnessed patients reduce
or eliminate the need for addictive prescription drugs by using cannabis for their pain, anxiety, depression.
I started cultivating cannabis because I had aging parents with severe arthritis who could not take NSAIDS like
Motrin due to stomach ulcers, and who did not wish to use prescription narcotics because they wanted to be able
to function. Narcotics put them at risk for falling and hip fractures. Cannabis for my parents became a
successful remedy for severe arthritis pain.
Nightingale Collective is not getting rich. We grow within the 10 ft by 10 ft area imposed by Butte County
ordinances. We make enough money to cover the costs of advertising, growing, and delivery. We pay our sales
tax to the California Board of Equalization.
I urge you not to vote to impose bans or regulations more strict than the regulations imposed by the State of
California.
