RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION
FOR GRANT FUNDING UNDER THE
LOCAL GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT
ASSISTANCE ACT
AB 303, STATUTES OF 2000
WHEREAS, the County of Butte has adopted a Groundwater Conservation
Ordinance, passed by the voters in November 1996; and
WHEREAS, such ordinance has been codified into Chapter 33 of the Butte
County Code; and
WHEREAS, such ordinance requires the County to monitor groundwater levels
throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, such ordinance also requires that the County measure far land
subsidence, which can be measured with an extensometer; and
W I-I EREAS, the Local Groundwater Management Assistance Act of 2000 has
established the Local Groundwater Assistance Fund, and is offering funding to assist
local agencies in groundwater management projects; and
WHEREAS, the County would utilize any funding obtained through the grant
opportunity to install dedicated monitoring wells equipped with extensometers; and
WHEREAS, such information would be valuable in the management of the water
resources within the County and for the implementation of the Groundwater
Conservation Ordinance
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that Ed
Craddock, Director ofthe Department of Water and Resource Conservation, be
authorized to execute all necessary documents to apply for grant funding for monitoring
wells equipped with extensometers under the Local Groundwater Management
Assistance Act of 2000.

23rd day of October 2001 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Hour>, Yamaguchi, and Chair Josiassen
