RESOLUTION TO ALLOCATE SUFFICIENT FUNDS AND RESOURCES TO SUPPORT
INCORPORATION OF BUTTE COUNTY FIRE SAFE COUNC[L
WHEREAS, the California Fire Plan calls for the creation of local forums to obtain expertise
and other input from citizens, community groups, local agencies and other stakeholders on assets
protected: and
WHEREAS, the California Fire Plan has five strategic objectives which 1~ave the overall goo) to
reduce total wildfire costs and lasses; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Safe Council is this forum that obtains expertise and input
from citizens, community groups, local agencies and other stakeholders on assets protected; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Safe Council, in order to carry out its mission and
accomplish the goals established in the California Fire Plan and the Butte County Fire Plan needs to
have a more formal status as anon-profit tax exempt corporation: and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Fire Safe Council is an independent entity that acts as a
clearinghouse for grants and other funds and provides the Butte County Board of Supervisors with
policy recommendations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, in
recognition of the contribution of the Butte County Fire Safe Council to the furtherance of fire safety in
Butte County, supports the incorporation of the Butte County Fire Safe Council; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors allocates
sufficient resources and funds to accomplish that goal.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors this 18th day of December 2001 by the
following vote:
