RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF THOMAS CAMPBELL REID
DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH
WHEREAS, Thomas Campbell Reid, Director of Environmental Health, passed away
unexpectedly on December 29, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Campbell Reid earned a bachelor's degree in Laboratory Technology
from Sacramento State College in 1964; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Campbell Reid received a fill scholarship to the University of
California, Los Angeles, where he earned a master's degree in Public Health in 19f~6; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Campbell Reid worked seven years as a registered Environmental
Health Specialist-Sanitarian for the Los Angeles Department of Public Health; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Campbell Reid began work with the Butte County Department of
Public l-lealth, Environmental Health Division, in 1973, promoted to Program Manager in 1985, and
served tirelessly as the Director of Environmental Health for eleven years; and
WHEREAS. "I~homas Campbell Reid set an example of professionalism and dedicated
service through his efforts serving the people of Butte County as a public health professional; and
WHEREAS, under Thomas Campbell Reid's leadership and vision, Butte County
Environmental Health programs were developed and refined to provide public health protection to
the residents of Butte County; and
WHEREAS, 'Thomas Campbell Reid was a valued and contributing member of the
California Conference of Local Directors of Environmental Health; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Campbell Reid was well respected and admired throughout Butte
County and the State of California.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT KESOLVED that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf
of the residents of Butte County, would like to express its sincere appreciation for the dedication
and devotion given by Thomas Campbell Reid during the twenty-nine years of service to the people
of the County of Butte, and furthermore to extend its sincere condolences to "Tom"s family and
friends.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 29`f' day o1~
January 2002 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Houx, Yamaguchi and Chair Josiassen
