RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF MIKE PYEATT
UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE UEPARTMEN"T OF GENERAL SERVICES
COUNTY OF BUTTE
WHEREAS, Mike Pyeatt. Director of the Department of General Services- announced his
retirement as of December 28. ?001: and
WHEREAS, Mike Pyeatt began his career with the County of Butte on October 18, 1971.
as an Administrative :'lnalyst working for Personnel, advancing to Administrative Analyst II
within six months_ and
WHEREAS- an February 8, 1973 Mike transferred to Administration as an Administrative
Analyst II, was promoted to an Administrative Analyst III in April 1974, and was promoted to
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer on July 10, 1976. On November 26, 1977, Mike was
promoted to Assistant County Administrative Officer, and on February 27, 1982, was named
Interim County Administrative Officer. On August 15, 1983, Mike voluntarily stepped back to
Deputy Administrative Officer. On September 30, 1989, Mike took the position of General
Services Director where he has served Butte County for the past twelve years; and
WHEREAS. Mike Pyeatt ~-vas the first General Services Director [or the County of Butte;.
giving him the responsibility of building the departments for General Services, updating the
policies and procedures for each service department and expanding the services to better serve
Butte County employees. In this role, Mike has taken pride in the hiring of professional and
competent management employees, extending training opportunities to them so as to expand their
knowledge of local government and programs, and motivating employees toward long-term
employment opportunities with the County; and
WHEREAS, Mike Pyeatt, as General Services Director, served as project administrator
for construction of the Main Jail, remodeling and expansion of the jail kitchen and laundry
facilities, construction of a new Butte County Court addition, 911 Emergency Communications
Center, new Juvenile Hall project, and Southside Oroville Community Center, as well as
improvements to County Center, and implementation of the energy management program. He has
diligently w~ rked in the best interest of Butte County for many years, earning the respect of his
fellow employees, contractors and others involved in General Services activities in Butte County.

express to Mike Pyeatt sinc;crc appreciation for his many years of dedication and. service to Butte
County, and further, ti~~ishes him well on his retirement-

January 20Q2 by the following vote:
