RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING
WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES
UNDER THE 2002 URBAN STREAMS RESTORATION PROGRAM
IN COOPERATION WITH STREAMINDERS
WHEREAS, the California Department of Water Resources, Division of Local
Assistance, Urban Streams Restoration Program has announced the availability of funds
for grants; and
WHEREAS, said grants are intended to help solve flooding and erosion problems
in a way that provides environmental enhancement; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte has been approached to co-sponsor a grant
application in cooperation with 5treaminders-chapter of the Izaak Walton League; and
WHEREAS, the project area proposed to be restored by the grant funding is
within the Bidwell River park and under the jurisdiction of the County per Sections 1 b. l
through 1 b. ~ and sections 16.10 through 16.11 of the Butte County Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 16.12 of the Butte County Code states that the director of
public works is vested with the supervision and management of Bidwell River Park; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte has partnered with different citizen groups
throughout the county to accomplish other restoration projects;
WHEREAS, the prospects of the project providing mutually beneficial results for
both parties are high;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that the
County, through the signature on the funding application of Ed Craddock, Director of the
Department of Water and Resource Conservation, approve the joint application with
Streaminders-Izaak Walton League and the County of Butte for an Urban Streams
Restoration Program grant.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this
12th day of March 2002 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Noux, Yamaguchi and Chair Josiassen
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
