RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FUNDING
FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES
UNDER THE CALFED WATERSHED PROGRAM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT
OF A BUTTE CREEK FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT PLAN IN
CONJUNCTION WITH BUTTE CREEK WATERSHED CONSERVANCY
AND WATER QUALITY AND WATERSHED CAPACITY BUILDING IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE CHEROKEE WATERSHED GROUP
WHEREAS, in April 2001 the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to seek funding
under the CALFED Watershed Program for a Floodplain Management Plan along Butte
Creek in conjunction with the Butte Creek Watershed Conservancy; and
WHEREAS, in April 2001 the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to seek funding
under the CALFED Watershed Program for group capacity building and water quality
monitoring in conjunction with the Cherokee Creek Watershed Group; and
WHEREAS, the County has received notification that such funding has been awarded to
the County for these programs; and
WHEREAS, the contract for this funding shall be with the County and the County will
act as the fiduciary agent in the administration of such grant funding; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Water Rsaurces requires a Resolution of Acceptance
from the County to process the contract to receive such funding;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that the
County accept funding under the CALFED Watershed Program for the development of a
Butte Creek Flaodplain Management Plan in conjunction with the Butte Creek Watershed
Conservancy and capacity-building and water quality monitoring on Cherokee Creek in
conjunction with the Cherokee Watershed Group as described in the grant applications
submitted to the Department of Water Resources in April 2001.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this
12th day of March 2002 by the fallowing vote:
AYES; Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Houx, Yamaguchi and Chair Josiassen
