RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THF, FRIF,NDS OF THE ARTS, A PROGRAM OF THE
SOlC3 UPSTATE COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT FOUNDATION, AS THF, LOCAL PARTNER
FOR THE CALIFORNIA ARTS COUNCIL'S STATE-LOCAL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Butte County had previously on May 12, 1998, through Resolution No, 98-76 designated
the Northern California Council for the Arts as the local partner for the California Arts Council's State-Local
Partnership Program, but that organization never received its non-profit designation and is now defimct~ and
WHEREAS, Butte County wishes to revoke the designation of the Northern California Council for the
Arts as the local partner for the California Arts Council's State-Local Partnership program and to designate a
different entity: and
WHEREAS, Butte County would be eligible for state art funds should the County have an arts council
that meets the funding criteria of the California Arts Council's State-Local Partnership Pro~~ram; and
WHEREAS, the deadline for applying for state funds tivas March 22, 2002, and the Friends of the Arts.
a program of the 501 C3 Upstate Community Enhancement Foundation has applied for funds an behalf of Butte
County contingent on receiving the Board"s designation; and
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Arts is eligible to apply for funds and has shown the desire and
motivation to merit being granted the title of Butte County"s Arts Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby
revoke the designation of the Northern California Council for the Ants as the local partner for the California Arts
Council's State-Local Partnership program and in its place does designate the Friends of the Arts, a Pro~~ram
of the SOIC3 Upstate Commtmity Enhancement Foundation.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 26th day of March 2002 by
