RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
TO ACCEPT ADDITIONAL FUNDS
FROM
SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
BLOCK GRANT
(S.A.M.H.S.A.)
FOR
FY 2001 /2002
WHEREAS, Butte County Department of Behavioral Health {BCDBH) requires Butte
County Board of Supervisors authorization to accept additional funds from the California
Department of Mental Health in the amount of $94,983.00, from federal Substance Abuse and
Mental Health Services Administration {SAMHSA) Block Grant; and
WHEREAS, BCDBH will use the additional funding to increase services for approximately
100 youth in Butte County Juvenile Hall and substance abuse counseling will be added to the
cadre of services available to children. BCDBH will expand the existing adult program to include
a vocational work program for approximately 12 adults. Furthermore, BCDBH will develop and
implement a campaign to increase the awareness of existing services to severely mentally ill
older adults in Butte County. These services will enable the Mentally III Older Adults to retain
their highest level of independent functioning along with support groups for their
spouses/partners.
WHEREAS, the term of the agreement shall remain July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
authorizes the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health to accept the addition funding for
the FY 200112002 and to continue with its existing SAMHSA program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 23`d day of April
2002, by the following vote:
