Resolution No. 0~-0~3
RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 2002 AS OLDER AMERICANS MONTH
WHEREAS, the Administration on Aging has announced that May 2002 has been
designated as Older Americans Month; and
WHEREAS, the Administration on Aging has further announced that the theme of Older
Americans Month will be "America: A Community for All Ages"; and
WHEREAS the designation and theme pays tribute to the American {-amity, which is the
strength of our nation; and
WHEREAS, the older members of our families provide us with the historical perspective
that enables us to move forward and contribute to our nation's greatness and prosperity as so
many have done before; and
and
WHEREAS, Butte County is home to more than X4,000 citizens aged 60 years or older;
WHEREAS. Butte County wishes to acknowledge and honor the valuable contributions
of its older citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
hereby proclaims its support and recognition of Older Americans Month.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 2 ~~`~ day of
April 2002 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Do1_an, tioux, Yamaguchi end Ci~air .~osiassen
NOES: Nine
ABSENT: Supervisor 13c:eler
NOT VOTING: None
