RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING DR. GLENN KENDALL DAY

WHEREAS, Dr. Glenn Kendall, son of a Methodist minister and his wife. was born
September 16, 1901, in Unionville, "[,ennessee; and
WHEREAS, He received a Bachelor of~ ~~rts degree from Western Kentucky College, a
Master's degree from the University of Kentucky_ and a Doctorate degree from the University of~
Coluulbia; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Kendall moved his family to Chico in 1950, becoming President ol~
Chico State College that same year, a position that he held until his retirement in 1966; and
WHEREAS, during his sixteen years as President, he achieved his original goals of
making Chico State a truly regional college, and a more broadly based institution.
NOW, THEREIIORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte CoLUlty Board of
Supervisors hereby proclaims May ~, 2002, as "Dr. Glenn Kendall Day" in Butte County, and
encourages ali citizens to join in celebrating this wonderful man who has helped make California
State University, Chico, the great learning institution it is today.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this ?>"~ da_v of
