"BUTCH" ELLIS WHEREAS, this Board expresses its appreciation to Martin W. "Butch" Ellis for his 3Q plus years of dedicated service to the Butte County Sheriff"s Office and the citizens of Butte County; and WHEREAS, Martin V4'. "Butch" Ellis was hired as a Deputy Sheriff by Sheriff Larry Gillick on September 27, 1971, and graduated from the 22nd Basic Feather River Police Academy on June 9, 1972; and WHEREAS, Martin 1~'. "Butch" Ellis earned an Associate of` Arts Degree in Law Enforcement from Butte Community College, holds a Limited Services Credential in Police Science, and has served as a firearms instructor for Butte Community College; and WHEREAS, Martin W. "Butch" Ellis has earned Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Supervisory Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certificates; and WHEREAS, Martin ~'. "Butch" Ellis has worked Patrol, Investigations, and as a Field Training Officer; and WHEREAS, Martin. W. "Butch'' Ellis was promoted to Sheriffs Sergeant by Sheriff Charles M. Grey on November 11, 1996; and WHEREAS, Martin W. "Butch" Ellis has received several Sheriff's Letters of Appreciation, a Sheriff s Letter of Commendation, a Sheriff's Commendation Award,. and many thank you letters from citizens and other agencies; and WHEREAS, Martin ~'. ``Butch" Ellis has served under Sheriff Larry Gillick, Sheriff Hal T. Brooks, Sheriff Leroy Food, Sheriff Charles M. Grey, and Sheriff Scott A. Mackenzie. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors, on its own behalf and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, expresses its deep appreciation for the more than 30 years of selfless dedication and devotion given by Martin W. "Butch'' Ellis during his law enforcement career with the Butte County Sheriff s Office.
