BUTTE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF E~IPLOYi4IENT AND SOCIAL SERIVCES
PROMOTING SAFE AND STABLE F:~~IILIES THREE-YEAR PLAN
tiVHEREAS, Federal regulations (4~ CFR 135, 13~?j require that Goals, objectives and related activities be described in a
written plan for federal fiscal years 2003 through 200; and
R~TIEREAS, the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997 (Public Law 10~-89) provides For the reauthorization and expansion of
Promoting Safe and Stable Fanulies; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Butte County Board of Supervisors to promote family preservation programs designed to
strengthen families, alleviate crisis that might lead to out-of--home placement of children, maintain the safety of children in their owrz
homes, support families preparing to retmify or adopt, assist families in obtaining services and other supports necessary to address their
multiple needs in a respecttiz] manner; and
tiVHEREAS, it is also the goal of the Butte County Board of Supervisors to promote community-based family supportive services
designed to, alleviate stress and promote parental competencies and strengths. ;and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors has designated the Butte Co~mty Department of Employment and Social
Services as the lead agency responsible for entering into contractual reiationshios tivith partnership organizations and the State for the
Promoting Safe Gad Stable Fanulies Programs; and
WHERE.-~S, the California Department of Social Services, Office of Child Abuse Prevention requires the Butte Cotmty Board of
Supervisors to approve the county's three-year plan through a formal resolution process.
NO~V, THEREFORE. IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Butte Counry Board of Supervisors as follows:

Families ProgranLS three-year plan eonunencing Federal Fiscal Year 3Q03 and ending ?005.
BE IT FUR'T'HER RESOLVED by the Butte County F3oard of Supervisors that the Butte County Adnvnish-ative Officer, ar
his,'her desi~~nee, is hereby authorized and empoticered to apply, approti~e, si~~n and ~secute in the name of the County of Butte any
documents necessary to receive finding tluou~,h the Califomia Depart„lent of Social Ser~~ioes for the Promoting Safe and Stable Families
Pro~~rams.
BE CC FL!RTHER RESOLVED that this resohrtion shall remain in tii'.I force and eFfect until a resolution of the Butte County
Board of Supervisors is adopted amending or rescinding this resolutioa.
