PROCLAMATION CONFIRMING EXISTENCE OF A LOCAL EMF,RGENC'Y
WHEREAS, Section K-5 (i) of the Butte County Code empowers the Chief
Administrative Officer to proclaim the existence or threatened existence of a local
emergency when said County is affected or likely to be affected by a public calamity and
the Board of Supervisars is not in session, subject to ratification by the Board of
Supet~isors within seven days; and
WHEREAS, conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have
arisen within said County in that commencing late 1u»e 8, 2002, due to a wildfire in the
Williams Road area near Butte College. The Red Cross has opened a shelter to
accommodate displaced individuals.
~'VHEREAS, said Board cat Supervisors does hereby tied that the aforesaid conditions
of extreme peril did warrant and necessitate the proclamation of the existence of a local
emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Administrative Officer of the County of Butte did proclaim
the existence of ~~ local emergency within said county on the ~`~' day ~~~fJune, 2002.
NOVV, i HF,REFORE, IT' IS HEREBY PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that the
proclamation of Existence of a Local Emergency, as issued by said Chief Administrative
Officer, is hereby ratified and confirmed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte; and
IT IS FURTHER PROCLAIMED AND ORDERED that said local emergency shall
he deemed to continue tc exist until its termination is proclaimed by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California.
