HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-177i1i•~ `+`~~~~~~~~i~~~t .iii • ~ ~~i i ^ ~,~: '°' ~ ~~ '~' BOARD CJF SUPERVISORS ~* ~ *; COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA -. ~ ~~ ~~ ~~: ;,W' ~'.;~';L;~U~.~~~~.V~/~ Resolution No. o?--z ~~ ~~~~'ESOLIJTION RECOGNI7.ING OCTOBER6-12, 2002, AS NATIONAL 4-H WEEK WHEREAS, the youth and volunteers of any community are its greatest natural resource; and WHEREAS, connecting youth and adults to work together through volunteer service can bridge the differences that separate people and help solve social problems; and WHEREAS, over eight hundred youth ages 5-19 are enrolled in twenty-two 4-H clubs throughout Butte County; and WHEREAS, nearly three hundred 4-H volunteers in Butte County donated a total of approximately 47,502 hours of time for the benefit and development of youth; and WHEREAS, 4-H is a youth development program that promotes the expansion of leadership, citizenship, and life skills through a variety of projects, events, and activities; and WHEREAS, more than 6.8 million youth touch and enhance the lives of others during National 4-H Week and throughout the year by giving where there is a need, teaching where there was a desire to learn, and inspiring those who need hope; and WHEREAS, 4-H has been helping youth and adults learn, grow, and work together for a hundred years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize October 6-i2, 2002, as National 4-H Week, and encourages all citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to connect with youth. and friends, and to become more aware of this special program which gives youth the chance to learn together and on their own as part of the 4-H Youth Development Program.
