RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE WATER SECURITY, CLEAN DRINKING
WATER, AND COASTAL AND BEACH PROTECTION ACT OF 2002
WHEREAS, the California electorate has approved three statewide bond
initiatives over the past two years that provided $6.67 billion for water and parks related
programs in the State of California; and
WHEREAS, another water bond initiative has been qualified for the November
2002 election that would provide an additional $3.44 billion for water related projects if
approved by the voters; and
WHEREAS, the County of Butte has identified several projects, which will
require additional state funding as may be provided by this 2002 water bond initiative.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEll that the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte hereby finds, determines and declares as follows:
All of the above recitals are true and correct.
2. The Director of the Department of Water and Resource Conservation has
been authorized to work with the Northern and Coastal California Water
Bond Initiative Coalition in the development of implementation language
to be contained in the 2002 water bond, which would seek to fund water-
related projects submitted by the County of Butte including the Rock
CreeklKeefer Slough Flood Control Project, the raising of Paradise Dam,
the Strengthening of Magalia Dam, the two-mile water delivery project
from Lime Saddle to the Upper Ridge, the P.G. & E./Butte County water
swap through the Miocene Canal, and the Butte Basin groundwater re-
charge feasibility study and other projects that may be identified in the list
of projects supported by the Northern and Coastal California Water Bond
Initiative Coalition.
;. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte supports the Water
Security, Clean Drinking Water, and Coastal and Beach Protection Act of
