HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-189°~ ~ '~°~ BOARD OR SUPERVtSORs i~: :~~ i* ~' *i ~~ *~ ~ •;y.4~ COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ~~ ~~j~~~~~nn~~s~~ V• ~'•. ~''OUN~.•`~ Reso~ufion No. o?-t~s ~~f1~~~~~~~~ RESOLUTION RECOGNI7ING THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE F,NTERPRISE-RECORD WHEREAS, the Enterprise-Record, the oldest business in Butte County and the fourth-oldest daily newspaper in the state, published its first edition on November 12, 1853, when the state was only three years old; and WHEREAS, the Butte Record, its first edition, was published at Bidwell Bar; and WHEREAS, the ascendants of the Enterprise-Record had many different names and bases of operation in the last halt of the 19`x' century; and WHEREAS, the Enterprise got its start as the "Tehama "Toscin in 1859 and eventually became the Northern Enterprise. The paper moved to Chico in 1873; and WHEREAS, Chico's two daily newspapers, the morning Chico Record and the afternoon Chico Enterprise, merged in 1948 to become the Enterprise-Record; and WHEREAS, currently the Enterprise-Record employs 147 people and has an additional 120 independent contractors delivering the newspaper; and County. WHEREAS, the Enterprise-Record has been an enduring historical source of news for Butte NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby recognizes the Enterprise-Record on the occasion of its 150`x' Anniversary and extends its best wishes for continued success in the years to come.
