HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-199• i~- O • '1n f ~ ~~ ~ ~~~ •~ 0 ~ • ~ ~ ^ i~: *i •~; ~• *ra iii .~ ~. ~y~ ''~~u.nNrt(`~ BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA ~eso~ufion No. oz-199 RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF UNDF.RSHERIFF TERRY KORTON WHEREAS, this Board expresses its appreciation to Undersheriff Terry Korton for nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the Butte County Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Butte County; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton started his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff in 1964, was promoted to Sheriff's Sergeant in 1971, was promoted to Sheriff's Lieutenant in 1973, was promoted to Assistant Sheriff in January 1986, and retired in December 1990; and WHEREAS, after nine years of retirement, Undersheriff Terry Korton returned to the Butte County Sheriffs Office on February 5, 2000, at the request of Sheriff Scott A. Mackenzie to serve as his Undersheriff; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton holds Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, and Management Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certificates; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton earned an Associates in Arts Degree in Police Science from Butte Community College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Technology from California State University, Chico; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton completed the FBI Management Seminar, and the San Jose State University Department of Administration of Justice Internal Affairs Investigation course, among many other training courses; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton has worked in Patrol, Investigations, Patrol Commander of the Chico Substation, Lieutenant in charge of Patrol for North and South County, and Assistant Sheriff in charge of Administration; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton has served as a member of the Steering Committee on the Butte County Elder Services Coordination Council and as a member of the Tribal Emergency Response Commission of the Mooretown Rancheria; and WHEREAS, Undersheriff Terry Korton is truly dedicated to law enforcement, extremely caring toward Sheriffs Office employees and the citizens of Butte County, and is a consummate professional and loyal member of the Butte County Sheriff s Office staff. 1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors, on its own behalf and on behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, expresses its deep appreciation for the many years of selfless dedication and devotion given by U~~de~slteriff Ter-rw Korton during his career with the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
