RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF ROBERT LEE TO~VNSEND
UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Townsend, Supervising Road Maintenance Worker for the Department
of Public Works, announced his retirement as of December 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Townsend began his career with the County of Butte in 1966, as a
Laborer, in the Department of Public Works, advancing within the Department, to become a Supervising
Road Maintenance Worker, his present position; and
WHEREAS, Robert Lee Townsend worked as a Laborer, Painter, Traffic Sign & Marking Man,
Road Maintenance Man I, Road Maintenance Man II, Road Maintenance Worker II, Road Maintenance
Worker III, Lead Flood Control/Tree Trimmer, and Supervising Road Maintenance Worker in the Public
Works Department for many years; and
WHEREAS, Robert Lee To~msend has earned the respect of fellow employees, engineers,
surveyors, contractors, and others involved in Public Works activities in Butte County, and has diligently
served the residents of the County of Butte for thirty-six (3b) years with extraordinary distinction and
leadership;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of
the residents of the County of Butte, wish to express to Robert Lee Townsend sincere appreciation for his
many years of unselfish dedication and outstanding service rendered to the residents of the County of
Butte, and further wish him well on his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this l0"' day of December 2002, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Beeler, Dolan, Houx, Yamaguchi and Chair Josiassen
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
