RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF LEROY E. SMITH
UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, LeRoy E. Smith, Supervising Road Maintenance Worker for the Department of
Public Works, announced his retirement as of December 28, 2002; and
WHEREAS, LeRoy E. Smith began his career with the County of Butte in 196?, as a Laborer, in
the Department of Public Works, advancing within the Department, to become a Supervising Road
Maintenance Worker, his present position; and
WHEREAS, LeRoy E. Smith worked as a Laborer, Dump Truck Operator, Road Maintenance
Man II, Road Maintenance Worker III, Road Maintenance Worker IV, and Supervising Road
Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department for many years; and
WHEREAS, LeRoy E. Smith has earned the respect of fellow employees, engineers, surveyors,
contractors, and others involved in Public Works activities in Butte County, and has diligently served the
residents of the County of Butte for farty (~0) years with extraordinary distinction and leadership;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of
the residents of the County of Butte, wish to express to LeRoy E. Smith sincere appreciation for his many
years of unselfish dedication and outstanding service rendered to the residents of the County of Butte, and
further wish him well on his retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 10`h day of December 2002, by the following vote:
AYES• Supervisors Bee]_er, Dolan, Floux, Yamaguchi and Chair Josassen
