HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-012.~ .•r~~uurrrrr,~~+~1 • i M~ • '" .~ ~ '1~ ~ ~ ~~ ~~i ^ B(JARD OF SUPERVISOR C©UNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CA<_IFORNIA Resolution No. o~-alz RESOLUTION IN HONOR OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., DAY, JANUARY 20, 2003 WHEREAS, the County of Butte is home to residents who appreciate the freedom and opportunities that are part of the human existence in the United States of America; and WHEREAS, those same principles of freedom and opportunity were among many messages promoted by the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., during his short life; and WHEREAS, there remains a need to promote unity, peace, and harmony among the different residents of our area; and WHEREAS, the efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to seek equality of opportunity is deserving of recognition and celebration. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize January 20, 2003, as the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., and encourages all residents to acknowledge the value of all people and to participate in activities that honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 14`h day of January 2003 by the following vote: AYES: SuPervi>ers Bolan, Houx, Josiassen, Yamaguchi ancj Chair ]3eeler NOES: None ABSENT: None NOT VOTING: None ~;f ~ ,.
