RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING 'THE 'TF,NTH ANNIVERSARY OF S.T.A.R.S.
SHERIFF'S TEAM OF ACTIVE RF,TIRED SENIORS
bVHEREAS, on Mareh 26, 1993, the first S.T.A.R.S academy graduated thirteen
members, and
WHEREAS, three of those original graduates are still active in the program; and
WHEREAS, currently the Sheriffs Office boasts a team of 113 S.T.A.R.S who assist the
community with Neighborhood Watch, collection and purging of evidence, traffic control,
emergency response, crime prevention activities and other miscellaneous duties; and
WHEREAS, as of February 2003 the S.T.A.R.S have logged 400,000 miles over the last
ten years helping to make the streets of Butte County a safer place, and
WHEREAS, all S.T.A.R.S. volunteers past and present have made a valuable
contribution to Butte County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
recognizes and thanks the Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors for their contributions to the
County of Butte during the past 10 years.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 25`'' day of
Mareh 2003 by the following vote:
