Resolution No. 03-050
RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH 2003
AS MEDIATION I<IONTH IN BUTTE COUNTY
WHEREAS, our society has become increasingly troubled and litigious in recent times and
this has led to domestic, commercial and social disharmony; and
WHEREAS, mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution which helps citizens to
resolve a broad range of disputes within communities; and
WHEREAS, the Mediation Centerofthe North Valleycreatedthe Rural Counties Mediation
Project to expand community awareness and interest in mediation; and
WHEREAS, many dedicated persons throughout Butte County have supported the Rura]
Counties Mediation Project and have learned basic mediation skills to the benefit of the general
public, businesses, and agencies of Butte County; and
WHEREAS, Butte County supports such efforts to resolve disputes informally.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE I'T RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
proclaims the month of March in the year 2003 as Mediation Month.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 25'~ day of March
2003 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Houx, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chair Beeler
