RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 2003 AS OLDER AMERICANS MONTH
WHEREAS, the Administration on Aging has announced that May 2003, has been
designated as Older Americans Month; and
WHEREAS, the Administration on Aging has further announced that the theme of Older
Americans Month will be "What We Do Makes a Difference"; and
WHEREAS the designation and theme serves to acknowledge the countless
contributions our senior population makes to the vitality of our communities; and
WHEREAS, Butte County is home to more than 40000 citizens aged 60 years or older;
and
WHEREAS, Butte County benefits from the time and effort invested by its seniors m
serving their community in programs such as Volunteer Tax Assistance, Senior Companion,
Foster Grandparent, Senior Nutrition, and Long-Term Care Ombudsman among others; and
WHEREAS, Butte County wishes to acknowledge and honor the valuable contributions
of its older citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
hereby proclaims its support and recognition of Older Americans Month.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 22"d day of
April 2003 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Houx, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chair Beeler
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
