RESOLUTION RECOGNIZ[NG DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S INVESTIGATOR
SUE WEBBER-BROWN AS INVESTIGATOR OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown has been. in law enforcement since 1984,
beginning her career as a Welfare Fraud Investigator far the County of Butte, later joining the Butte
County District Attorney's Office as an Investigator in 1988; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown has participated in more than 2,000
investigations, conducted interviews of more than 1,000 suspects, and has written in excess of 70
search warrants in her assignment with the Butte-Interagency Narcotics Task Force; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown had the vision to recognize the incredible risks
suffered by children of drug users and manufacturers when exposed to illicit drugs and chemicals,
and was instrumental in the fornlation of the nation's first Drug Endangered Children Program; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown has rescued or participated in the rescue of
over 900 children from hazardous homes where drugs were used, sold or manufactured; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown is nationally recognized as an expert in the
area of drug endangered children, having testified before Congress, and having made countless
presentations to state and national organizations on the subject of children and drugs; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown's vision of a program to save children from
exposure of drugs and drug chemicals has now been adopted by the California Department of Justice
as a standardized effort in the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement program, and has brought national
attention to the plight of drug endangered children. through exposure in national publications such
as People Magazine, and newspapers throughout the country; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Sue Webber-Brown has been named the Investigator of the Year
by the California District Attorney Investigators Association for her outstanding efforts in developing
programs to save the children trapped in the drug underworld.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors
recognizes Investigator Sue Webber-Brown for her insight, expertise, professionalism, and
dedication to the investigation of drug endangered children in Butte County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Qo~lyd of Supervisors this 14`f' day of
October 2003 by the following vote:
