RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION UNDER AB 303
FOR GRANT FUNDING BY WESTERN CANAL WATER DISTRICT
FOR GROUNDWATER MONITORING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the California legislature passed AB 303, the Local Groundwater Assistance Act
of 2000; and
WHEREAS, Butte County has previously benefited from an AB 303 grunt for additional
subsidence monitoring wells; and
WHEREAS, the California Deparhnent of Water Resources has recently released the Fiscal
Year ?003-04 AB 3030 Proposal Solicitation and Application Package; and
WHEREAS, The Board of Directors of Western Canal Water District has instructed District
staff to prepare an application for funding through this program for additional groundwater monitoring
wells; and
WHEREAS, Butte County and Western Canal Water District are both members of the Butte
Basin Water Users Association that is responsible for reporting groundwater levels annually according
to Chapter 33 of the Butte County Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors supports the
application by Western Canal Water District for grant funding under AB 303 for the construction of two
or more non-production monitoring wells that would provide additional detailed, site-specific
groundwater monitoring information from within the District's service area.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 13`" day of January
2004 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan,
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
