BUTTE COUN'CY AUDIT COMM['I"1'EE
WHEREAS, an independent audit tirm conducts an annual audit of Butte County; and
WHEREAS, the independent audit firm creates two reports, a general purpose financial statement of
County assets, liabilities, equity, changes in fund balances, revenues, other credits and expenditures, and a
Single Audit report on expenditures of federal awards, and
WHEREAS, the 200ll02 and 2002/03 Grand Juries reco-nmended the formation of un Audit
Committee; and
WHEREAS, an Audit Committee's primary purpose shall be to independently oversee the audit of
the County financial statements; and
WHEREAS, an Audit Committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors,
meeting as necessary, acting as a liaison between the County and independent audit firm, making necessary
follow-ups, recommending selection of the County's independent audit firm, and reporting to the Board of
Supervisors as necessary; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Audit Committee's membership shall consist of the County Auditor-
Controller, the Chief Administrative Officer, the Chief Administrative Officer's Budget Director, the County
Treasurer-Tax Collector, and one member of the Board of Supervisors who will serve as Chair; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Butte County Audit Committee's term shall coincide with the term
of the position of the members, or term of employment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte
hereby establishes the Butte County Audit Committee.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 13~' day of January 2004
by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Houx, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chair Beeler
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
