RESOLUTION IN IZ[~.COGN11'ION OF THE OPENING OF '1 HE
ESPLANADE HOUSE TRANSITIONAL SHEL'T'ER I+OR HOMELESS FAMILIES
WIIEREAS, there has been a continuing presence of families with children experiencing
homelessness in Chico, I3utte County, California; and
WHEREAS, homeless children must be supported ~~~ith their families to break the cycle of
homelessness and remain an important part of society; and
WHEREAS. the Comm~u~ity Action Agency of I3utte County, Inc., and the Esplanade House
Children's Trust have created a unique self-help program at the Esplanade House Transitional Shelter
for Homeless Families to provide an effective transitional housing program designed to provide
opportunities liar life changes necessary to escape homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the Esplanade House Transitional Shelter far Homeless Families continues to be
acommunity-supported efforC that d-aws volunteers and support from a broad segment of individuals,
groups, and organizations; and
WHEREAS. the Community Action Agency of I3utte County, Inc., has completed the
expansion of the Esplanade House Transitional Shelter For Homeless Families program Facility at 18I
East Shasta Avenue, Chico, California, that will enable more and better services to be provided; and
NOW, THEREFORE, 6E IT RESOLVED that the I3utte County Board of Supervisors
commends the completion of the new Esplanade House Transitional Shelter for Homeless Families
and encourages residents to continue support of the program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 13`r' day of April
