HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-101BOARD aF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CAUFOR~IVIA ~E'SOlUf10n N0. 04-101 RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING DIA DE GEORGE L. OR'CIZ, JUNE 15, 2004 WHEREAS, George L. Ortiz has served as President of California Human Development Corporation (CHDC) since 1967; and WHEREAS, George L. Ortiz, as President of CHDC, first came into Butte County to develop programs for Butte County's farmworkers in 1979; and WHEREAS, thousands of farmworkers have been served with vocational employment programs and other emergency services since 1979; and WHEREAS, George L. Ortiz is retiring from CHDC after 37 years of service to Butte County's farmworkers and low-income population; and WHEREAS, CHDC continues to provide needed services to farmworkers living in Butte County with an office in Chico since 1979; and WHEREAS, CHDC is announcing the development of an Endowment in the name of George L. Ortiz to ensure services for farmworkers and other low-income people in CHDC's service areas, including Butte County, that will continue indefinitely into the future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors proclai-1is June 15, 2004, Dia de George L. Ortiz, in honor and recognition of the enormous efforts made for farmworkers in Butte County by CHDC, and to encourage the citizens of Butte County to suppo~~ CHDC and their efforts to develop the George L. Ortiz Endowment fund.
