RESOLU'T'ION IN RL+'MEMBRANCE AND RECOGNITION OF
MARGARET "PEG" 'TAYLOR AND 'T TIE
PEG TAYLOR CENTER FOR ADULT DAY I-TF.ALTI3 CARE
WHEREAS, on August 27, 2004, the Peg Taylor Center for Adult Day Health Care is
celebrating the 100`f' birthday of Margaret "Peg Taylor; and
WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors marks the occasion of Peg
Taylor's 100`x' birthday with its appreciation for her many years of tireless and unselfish
community service; and
WHEREAS, Peg Taylor's public health nursing career began in New York City,
spanned two World Wars, and involved nursing in universities, hospitals, and communities all
over the United States; and
WHEREAS, in 1969 Peg retired to Chico and turned her lifelong interests, talents,
and time into enriching the health and wellness of Butte County citizens; and
WHEREAS, in 1980 local seniors and service providers determined there was a need
for adult day health care and a task Force was formed. Peg Taylor was at the forefront of
efforts to start an adult day health care center in Chico; and
WHEREAS, in 1982 this task force was designated the Butte County Adult Day
Health Care Planning Council, and the Council developed the Area Plan for Adult Day f-health
Care; and
WHEREAS, by 1985, state and local start-up grants and a cash flow loan were
secured, a facility at the First Church of the Nazarene was donated, and renovation, staffing,
and licensing of the program began; and
WHEREAS, in 1986 the program became a reality with the naming of the Peg Taylor
Center for Adult Day Health Care, and in 1987 the Centers program expanded as an
Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center; and
WHEREAS, Peg Taylor's legacy continued with the opening in 2004 of an adult day
health care program in the Southside Community Center in Oroville; and
VYIIEREAS, the Peg Taylor Center for Adult Day Health Care, with a deep respect
for its clients, provides a variety of services and activities to meet individual's needs and
specialized services for clients with Alzheimer's Disease, as well as education, consultations,
and support for families and others caring for loved ones.
NO~'V, THEREFORE, BE I'I' RESOLVED, that the Butte County >3ozird of
Supervisors acknowledges the important role the Peg Taylor Center for Adult Day Health
Cate plays in the lives of I~utte County's citizens, and expresses its appreciation to ail the
individuals and agencies involved in the establishment and operation of this program.
PASSED t~ND ADOPTD by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 1~`~' day of
August 2004 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Houx, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chair Beeler
