RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF
HELP AIVIERICA YOTE ACT (HAVA) I+UNllS 'I'O CONUUC'I
VOTEK EDUCATION ANDIOR PRECINCT OFFICER TRAINING
FOR THE NOVMEBER 2, 2004, GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) has mandated activities far the purpose of
rebuilding voter confidence and facilitating participatian in the electoral process; and
WHEREAS, the California Secretary of State has proposed to allocate HAVA funds for counties to
conduct and improve voter education and precinct officer training for the November 2, 2004 General
Election; and
WHERAS, the County elects to participate in the Voter Education andlor Pollworker Training
Assistance Grant Program and apply for a grant in the amount of $&_5,000; and
WHERAS, in order to participate in the Voter Education andlor Pollworker Training Assistance
Grant Program Voter Education and/or Pollworker Training Assistance Grant Program, the County must
enter in an agreement with the California Secretary of State,
NOVV, 'THEREFORE,, I3E IT 12ESOLVI?D that the County of Butte elects to participate in the
Voter Education and Voter Education andlor Pollworker Training Assistance Grant Program for the
November 2, 2004 General Election and authorizes the County Clerk-Recorder to apply for and sign an
agreement for grant funds and to utilize grand funds as outlined in the attached program.
FUKTHER, I3E IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors:
1. Ratifies the submission of the Grant Application and authorizes the County Clerk-Recorder to
sign all documents for the grant process.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 17`~ day of August 2004
by the following vote:
