RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MON'T'H OF OC'T'OBER AS
"CRIME PREVENTION MONTH"
WHEREAS, crime prevention and community oriented policing is a key component to a
successful law enforcement strategy; and
WHEREAS, Butte County citizens and neighborhoods who actively participate in crime
prevention activities help protect themselves and their neighbors from crime; and
WHEREAS, crime prevention activities such as Neighborhood Watch, Drug Free Zones,
prevention education programs, and safety fairs help to educate the community on the
importance of crime prevention and teach citizens how to fight and prevent crime in their
neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, when the public participates in and is educated about crime prevention, the
Butte County Sheriff's Office and municipal policing agencies are more able to fight crime and
make our neighborhoods safer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors, recognizing the importance of crime prevention activities in Butte County and the
significant conMbutions of comm~mity members who participate in crime prevention activities,
hereby declares October as Crimc Prevention Month.
PASSED AND ADOY'I'ED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 12°i day of
October 2004 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Houx, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chair Beeler
NOES: None
