RF,SOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF ROBERT J. VOORHEES
UPON RE'T'IREMENT FROM T HE AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT,
COUNTY OF BUTTE
WHEREAS, Robert J. Voorhees, Supervisor-Agricultural Biologist, announced his
retirement as of October 29, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Bob Voorhees began his career with the County of Butte an June 25,
1973, as an Agricultural Inspector; and on December 18, 1982, he was promoted to
Agricultural Biologist III; and
WHEREAS, on October 8, 1)94, Bob was promoted to the position of Supervisor-
Agricultural Biologist in the Chico district office of the Department of Agriculture where he
has served Butte County for the past ten years; and
WHEREAS, Bob has been a hard working, conscientious County employee for thirty
years, first as an Inspector and finally as the Supervisor for the Chico district office where he
was required to he thoroughly familiar with a~r~icultural related issues, supervision, training,
pest management and investigation skills as well as maintaining current knowled~e of the
federal, state and local laws and regulations; and
WHEREAS, Bob Voorhees has worked on behalf of the department and the Butte
County agricultural industry as a member of many organizations and events, including the
annual Butte County Farm City Celebration, the Pesticide Organophosphate Focus Group of
the Sacramento River Watershed Project, various grower training sessions and the
Professional Association of Pesticide Applicators. Under Bob's tutelage, numerous
employees and citizens received training, valuable advice and instruction an how to address a
wide-range of agricultural related topics. Boh has dili=ently worked in the best interest of
Butte County for many years, earning the respect of his fellow employees and others involved
in agricultural activities in Butte County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT Rh:SOLVED that the Board of Supervisors wishes to
express to Robert J. Voorhees sincere appreciation for his many years of dedication and
service to Butte County, and further, wishes him well on his retirement.
