Resolution No. 04-210
RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF
BARBARA "BARBIE" ANN DOPSON
WHEREAS, Barbara "Barbie" Ann Dopson, Paralegal with the Butte County
Department of Child Support Services, amzounced her retirement effective December 31,
2004; and
WHEREAS, Barbie Dopson began her career with Butte County on February 16,
1980 as a Stenographer-Clerk I with the District Attorney -Consumer Protection Unit
and was promoted on September 27, 1980 to Legal Stenographer Clerk; and
WHEREAS, Barbie Dopson continued employment with Butte County,
transferring to the Superior Court as a Court Clerk I on January 16, 1988, then returned to
the Department of Child Support Services, formerly known as the District Attorney -
Family Support Division, on July 8, 1989, as a Legal Secretary II; and
WHEREAS, Barbie Dopson was promoted to Supervising Legal Secretary on
September 11, 1993; then on April 25, 1995, aCounty-wide re-organization study per
salary ordinance amendment # 3197, changed her title to Paralegal; and
WHEREAS, Barbie Dopson, as a subject matter expert on Iega1 work associated
with criminal enforcement of child support matters, has successfully supervised andJor
overseen the work of countless Butte County employees, sharing life skills and
information which assisted them to advance to higher levels of performance; and
WHEREAS, Barbie Dopson has performed her duties in a diligent and precise
manner, strictly distinguishing her work, and has ethically performed in the best interest
of Butte County, ea1-ning the respect of her fellow employees and others, and
WHEREAS, Barbie Dopson has been a hard working, devoted and conscientious
employee for 24 years, 10 months; and
WHEREAS Barbie Dopson's lifelong commitment has forever enhanced the lives
of thousands of children and families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors wishes to
express to Barbara "Barbie" Dopson sincere appreciation for her many years of
dedication and service to Butte County, and further, wishes her well on her retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 30th day of November
2004 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dolan, Houx, Yamaguchi and Chair Beeler
NOES: None
ABSENT: Supervisor Josiassen
NOT VOTING: None
