RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF NANCY FERN
UPON RETIREMENT FROM
BUTTE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH llEPARTMEN'I'
WHEREAS, Nancy Fern has announced her retirement as of December ~ 1, 2004, and
WHEREAS, Nancy Fern graduated with a Bachelor"s Degree in Nursing from State
University College of Education, Plattsburgh, New York in 1960; and
WHEREAS, Haney horn, between 1960 and 1982, used her nursing knowledge and
Skills to work in innovative programs serving children, teens and young mothers in New York,
l~lorida, California and Washington DC; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Fern joined the nursing staff of the Butte County Public; Ilealth
Department on November 15, 1982 and served in public health musing positions of increasing
responsibility through 200; and
~'~'HFREAS Nancy Fern was appointed Senior Public Health Nurse in 1989 and
Supervisor, Public Health Nursing in 1995 to supervise nursing services in the Chico office; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Fern served her cotl~munity as a Public Health Department
representative on numerous interagency and community coalitions and collaboratives; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Fern received the "Teddy" award from the Alcahal & Drug
Advisory Council in 1993 for her outstanding efforts in substance abuse prevention; and
V4~'HEREAS, Nancy Fern has served as a dedicated Public Health Nurse whose integrity
and experience in public health enabled her to be a mentor to staff, students, and our community
partners.
NOW, TIIEREFORF,, BE IT RESOLVEll that the Board of Supervisors wishes to
cypress to Nancy Fern sincere appreciation for her many years of dedication and service to Butte
County, and further, wishes her well on her retirement.
PASSI+,D AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 14°i day of
December 2004 by the following vote:
