HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-037RESOLUTION DECLARING MARCH AS SOCIAL WORKERS MONTH WHEREAS, a proclamation was issued on March 22, 1984 by President Ronald Reagan proclaiming March as National Social Worker Month; and WHEREAS, social workers have the right education and experience to guide individuals, families, and communities through complex issues and choices; WHEREAS, social workers connect individuals, families and communities to available resources; WHEREAS, social workers are dedicated to improving the society in which we live; WHEREAS, social workers are positive and compassionate professionals; WHEREAS, social workers stand up for others to make sure everyone has access to the same basic rights, protections, and opportunities; WHEREAS, social workers help people help themselves, whenever and wherever they need it most; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors as follows: That the Butte County Board of Supervisors declares the month of March 2005 as Social Worker Month in Butte County to honor all social workers for their commitment to the profession of social work, their dedication to the highest moral and ethical standards, their practice of social work with the competency of their profession and their regard as their primary obligation the welfare and support of individuals and families served. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of March , 2005, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Dolan, Houx, Josiassen and Chair Yamaguchi- NOES: None ABSENT: None ~ '. NOT VOTING: None KIM K.
