HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-067BARD C3F ~UP~R1+/IC)I~~~ COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFE`~RNIA Resolution No. 05-067 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND RESOURCE CONSERVATION TO FINALIZE THE INTERGATED WATER RESOURCE PLAN AND CARRY OUT THE INITIAL POLICY DIRECTION WHEREAS, the Department of Water and Resource Conservation (Department) was formed in July, 1999 to carry out the conservation of water and other resources in Butte County; and WHEREAS, the Department serves to conserve agricultural, urban and environmental water and related resources; and WHEREAS, the Department's conservation activities include the implementation of the AB 3030 Groundwater Management Plan, the Groundwater Conservation Ordinance Chapter 33 of the Butte County Code, and the Basin Management Objectives Ordinance, Chapter 33A of the Butte County Code; and WHEREAS, the Department is also responsible for the management County's Table A allocation of 27,500 acre-feet of surface water from the State Water Project; and WHEREAS, management of the County's groundwater and surface water could result in the conservation of water for groundwater recharge and banking; and WHEREAS, the Integrated Water Resources Plan was developed under a contract with the California Department of Water Resources approved by the Board; and WHEREAS, the County also considers it imperative that regional coordination for the understanding, enhancement and protection of common groundwater water supplies of good duality occur while protecting urban, agricultural, and environmental water supplies; and WHEREAS, the Butte County Water Commission recommended the approval of the "Butte County Integrated Water Resources Plan." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors that the County approve the finalization of the Butte County Integrated Water Resource Plan, with the initial focus suggested in the staff report and comments recommended by the Butte County Water Commission. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors this 10th day of May 2005 by the following vote: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Kim K.
