RESOLUTION INCREASING THE AMOUNTS OF THE
SHERIFF'S OFFICE CHANGE FUNDS
IN THE RECORDS AND CIVIL DIVISIONS
WIIEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte adopted Resolutions # 77-
1652 and # 79-713 establishing a $ 50 change fund for the Sheriff's Office Civil Division and
Resolution # 86-48 establishing a $ 75 change fund for the Sheriff s Office Records and
Identification Division pursuant to Government Code # 29320 et seq; and
WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 29320 et. seq. provides for the
establishment and maintenance of such funds in amounts to be determined by the Board of
Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriffs Office has determined that due to the increased volume and
amount of activity in both departments, an increase in the dollar amount of both the revolving
funds is necessary for the efficient operation of both divisions; and
WHEREAS, both the Sheriff and the Auditor believe that the increases would be
beneficial to the operations of the Sheriff s divisions, and mutually support the request for an
increase;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. Resolutions # 77-1652 and # 79-713 previously authorized the establishment ol~the Civil
Division change fund in the amount of $ 50; this resolution increases the amount from the
existing $ 50 to $ 200. An increase of $ 150.
2. Resolution # 86-48 previously authorized the establishment of the Records and Identification
Division change fund in the amount of $ 75; this resolution increases the amount from the
existing $ 75 to $ 300. An increase of $ 225. This will allow the division to operate
multiple cash drawers.
Certified copies of this resolution shall be transmitted to the County Auditor and the County
Treasurer.
4. The Chief Administrative Officer and the Risk Manager are instructed pursuant to Section
29323 of the California Government Code to amend by endorsement the blanket fidelity
bond of the County to be conditioned in addition to its other provisions, upon the faithful
administration of the Change Fund and upon the willingness and ability of the principal for
whom such fund has been established to account for and pay over the fund upon demand of
the Board of Supervisors at any time.
5. The Auditor of the County of Butte is hereby authorized and directed to draw a warrant in the
sum of Three Hundred Seventy Five Dollars ($ 375) in favor of the Sheriff, for deposit into
the Sheriffs Office Civil Division Change Fund ($ 150) and the Records and Identification
Division Change Fund ($ 225) and to adjust County records accordingly.
6. The Sheriff or his/her designee will account for the two Change Funds in accordance with
Government Code Section 29390 et. seq. and will periodically verify the amounts in the
funds when requested by the Auditor-Controller or the Board of Supervisors.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, on this 24th day of May 2005 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Houx, Josiassen and Chair Yamaguchi
NOES: Supervisor Dolan
