CALtFC>t~NIA Resolution No. os->.z6 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 2-8, 2005, AS NATIONAL 4-H WEEK WHEREAS, 4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills; and WHEREAS, the youth and volunteers of any community are its greatest natural resource; and WHEREAS, 4-H, as part of the University of California Cooperative Extension system, delivers youth programs through a wide range of delivery modes, including after-school, in-school, camp, and clubs; and WHEREAS, nearly one thousand youth, ages 5-10, participate in twenty-one 4-H clubs and school enrichment programs throughout Butte County; and WHEREAS, two hundred seventy-five 4-H volunteers in Butte County donated approximately 45,000 hours of time for the benefit and development of youth; and WHEREAS, 4-H engages youth in their communities and helps them develop relationships with caring adults, learn from each other, work together in meaningful partnerships, and provid service where needed; and WHEREAS, 4-H has been helping youth and adults learn, grow, and work together for more than one hundred years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of Supervisors does hereby recognize October 2-8, 2005, as National 4-H Week in Butte County and urges the people of this community to take advantage of the opportunity to become more aware of this special program which gives youth the chance to learn together and on their own, and to join us in recognizing the unique partnership between our county and our University system.
