WHEREAS, Butte County receives over 5, 000 allegations of child abuse and neglect annually, and aver seven hundred children are in out-of-home placement in Butte County in any one month; and WHEREAS, the Frank Watters Children's Trust Fund, a fund made up entirely of donations from the community, allows Butte County citizens to make tax deductible donations to help prevent child abuse and neglect when they pay their property taxes; and WHEREAS, Ophir School expressed their commitment to the community with their generous donation to the Frank Watters Children's Trust Fund. WHEREAS, the Butte County Board of Supervisors recognizes the outstanding efforts of Ophir School. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors, on its own behalf and on behalf of the residents of Butte County, wishes to send heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Ophir School for their support of Butte County s efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect.
