The Butte later ency Narcotics Task Force
2Artniversary
WHEREAS, the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF) is celebrating
20 years of service to the Citizens of Butte County, and
WHEREAS; increasing recognition has been given to the role of the family in
preventing drug abuse, with the awareness that several conditions contribute to the- use of
drugs such as lack of parental guidance, a lack of positive role models, and peer pressure
to use drugs. A11 these conditions would be mitigated if the family process were
strengthened; and
WHEREAS, it is the goal of all drug prevention organizations to motivate people
to participate=actively in programs that eliminate illegal drug problems in our community
and to strengthen the family, and
WHEREAS, the agencies that comprise SINTF are: Butte County Sheriff s
Off ce, Probation Department, District Attorney's Office and DESS; the police
departments of Chico, Paradise, Oroville, Gridley-Biggs and the state organizations,
Department of Justice, Highway Patrol and Department of Corrections. These agencies
working in coliabaration as BINTF have made a tremendous impact over their 20 years
of service by seizing 598 clandestine laboratories, over •2,000 guns, and arrested 7,596
law breakers• while saving 1.,752 children who were in harms way due to illicit drug sales,
production and use, and
WHEREAS, the individuals who comprise the BINTF team are dedicated
professionals committed to the enforcement, in#ervention and prevention of drug and,
related problems in Butte County.
NOTI; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors recognizes the value and- contribution of BINTF's 20 years of service to the
citizens of Butte County and show appreciation to the dedicated professionals who
continue to fight the battle against illicit drug use.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors this 25~' day of April
2006 by the following vote:
