WHEREAS, Darryl R. Sanford began his firefighting career on September 18, 1973, as a
seasonal firefighter with the California Department of Forestry; and
WHEREAS, on April 14, 1986, Darryl began serving Butte County as a Fire Apparatus Engineer
within the Butte County Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, he became the Fire Apparatus Engineer at Butte County Station 71 iua
Richvale and served the county and community of RichvaIe for 20 years; and
. WHEREAS, he has been very active in the Butte County Fire Department, serving on the
CDF/Butte County Rescue Team, Critical Incident Stress Management Team, and as an expert in Crrain
Silo Incidents; and
WHEREAS, in 2003, Fire Captain Sanford received the State of California Medal of Valor for
this courageous response and actions during the Concow Fire on September 19, 2000; and
WHEREAS, after 33 years of unselfish dedication and devotion to Fire Protection and Rescue,
Fire Captain Darryl R. Sanford is retiring on June 28, 2006; and
WHEREAS, it is a great please to see his dedication to the County and community of Richvale.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board, on its own behalf and on behalf of
the residents of the County of Butte, would like to express its deep appreciation to Darryl R. Sanford for
his support and contributions to the citizens of this county, and further wishes him well on his retixernent.

RESOLUTION IN APPRECIATION OF FIRE CAPTAIN DARRYL R. SANFORD
UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY
AND FIRE PROTECTION, BUTTE COUNTY FIItE DEPARTMENT
