HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-143Resolution No. WHEREAS, 19.69 percent of the population in Butte County is comprised of seniors (persons aged 60 years and older); and WHEREAS, Senior Volunteers can provide positive role models of active aging; and WHEREAS, Senior Volunteers are a source of knowledge and support for younger generations; and WHEREAS, Senior Volunteers serve as teachers, mentors, and role models for the generations that follow them; and - WHEREAS, Senior Volunteers serve as advocates, companions, and helpers to frail elderly; and WHEREAS, the growth of such programs as Faster Grandparents and the Senior Companion Programs attest to the value of the special relationships between senior volunteers and the people they serve. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims October 19, 2006, as Senior Volunteer Recognition Day in Butte County.
