RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF NANCY D. GROWER, LIBRARY DIRECTOR
UPON RETIREMENT FROM THE BUTTE COUNTY LIBRARY
WHEREAS, Nancy D. Brower, Library Director for Butte County, announced her
retirement as of Friday, December 29, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Nancy began her career with the County of Butte as Children's Librarian
Librarian I, September 24, 1973; and
WHEREAS, Nancy advanced throughout her career to Librarian ll, Assistant Director,
and on December 15, 1992, became Director; and
WHEREAS, Nancy's accomplishments include the automation of the Library system,
development of an award winning Literacy program, and reactivating the Bookmobile after
years of sitting dormant; and
WHEREAS, Nancy is known throughout the County.and particularly in the Administrative
4ftice for her ability to stretch the Library Budget to the greatest extent possible for the good of
the Library and the community; and
WHEREAS, Nancy spearheaded and has served as Editor of The County Voice
newsletter since its inception; and
WHEREAS, Nancy has taken great pride in her job as a public servant conducting
herself with the highest level of integrity and responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Nancy has worked diligently for the past 33 years in the best interest of
Butte County and its citizens, earning the respect and confdence of her colleagues and the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board, on its awn behalf, and on
behalf of the residents of the County of Butte, wish to express to Nancy D. Brower sincere
appreciation for her many years of unselfsh dedication and outstanding service rendered to the
residents of the County of Butte, and further wish her well on her retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of
California, this 12th day of December 2006 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dannelly, Dolan, Xamaguchi and Chair Josiassen
