HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-034•'~~ ,, ~~~ ~~• •!~' r*., *~ ' C.C~U~1T'~ 4F E~UTTE, STATE QF ~AL1FQRfd#A ., •••.......••''~ ~'~ Resolution No. 07-034 L'O h1 ~~ RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE HONORING LANCE TENNIS WHEREAS, Lance Tennis is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Western Canal Water District, and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis has served on that Board since its inception in 1985; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis in his capacity as a member of the Board of Directors of Western Canal Water District was instrumental in the acquisition of funding for a siphon project beneath Butte Creek; and WHEREAS, the Gary N. Brown Siphon project was completed in July 1998 and has allowed for the removal of four dams on Butte Creek which opened up twenty miles of unimpeded flow on Butte Creek; and WHEREAS, these actions have helped to preserve and improve the Spring-Run Chinook Salmon run on Butte Creek; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis is a past Board member of the Butte County Rice Growers Association; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis is a past Board member of the California Rice Growers Association; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis is a past Chairman of the California Rice Research Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Butte County Farm Bureau; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis anal his wife Audrey were awarded the Farm City Agricultural Service Award in 1999; and WTTEREAS, Lance Tennis has served on the Butte County Water Commission since December 1993; and WHEREAS, in that capacity Lance "Tennis was instrumental in acquiring funding for the Butte County Water Inventory/Analysis, and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis has exhibited exceptional leadership skills and professionalism in al! capacities of his life; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis has recently changed. focus in his service to the public from agricultural and water activities to health care; and WHEREAS, Lance Tennis currently serves as an Ex Officio member of the Enloe Hospital. Board of 'T'rustees, and WHF,REAS, with this transition in focus it is proper to recognize Lance 'T'ennis for his public service related to agricultural and water issues within Butte County, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte hereby determine that Lance Tennis be recognized and honored for his dedication and service to agriculture and other water-related issues in Butte County and specifically for his sixteen year tenure on the Butte County Water Commission.
