A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE
RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE PARADISE IRRIGATION DISTRICT
TOWARD THE FUTURE SKYWAY WIDENING PROJECT
AND THE COST SAVINGS PROVIDED BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
MAGALIA RESERVOIR BYPASS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Paradise Irrigation District (the "District") intends to construct the Magalia
Raw Water Bypass Project (the "Project");
WHEREAS, the District expects to pay for the Project with an estimated cost of $2.,500,000
with District funds and a potential of $480,000 grant from the California Department of Water
Resources;
WHEREAS, the County of Butte (the "County") desires in the future to construct the Skyway
Widening Project including which will require the construction of repairs to Magalia Dam;
WHEREAS, the cost to provide water to the District during the repairs to Magalia Dam were
estimated in 2004 to be more than $1,100,000 not including contingency, engineering and permitting
costs;
WHEREAS, the construction of the Project will provide water to the District during the repairs
to Magalia Dam, reducing the repair costs significantly; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Butte as follows:
Section 1. That it finds and determines that the foregoing recitals are true and correct.
Section 2. That it recognizes the financial contribution of the Paradise Irrigation
District toward the future Skyway Widening Project.
Section 3. That the Paradise Irrigation District and the County of Butte will continue to
search for funding for the Skyway Widening Project including the repairs needed for Magalia Dam.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte by the
fol]owing vote:
AYES: Supervisors Connelly, Kirk, Josiassen, Yamaguchi and Chair Dolan
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
